Paul, a retiring deputy ambassador, finds his forever
home in the hills of Virginia. From day one in the little
town of New Hope, he senses all is not as it seems.

Parking at the local diner, he feels like he’s been there
before but knows he hasn’t. Entering the vestibule, he
hears a strange language he cannot place. The
language becomes perfect English as he reaches for
the inner door.

The food tastes incredible, possibly from him having
been out of the country for the last few years, but to
have the same feeling each time the food hits his
stomach?
That’s just unnatural!

Then there are the eyes of his server. Not just light blue,
or even deep blue, but more like a glowing, Lapis
Lazuli jewel. He is mesmerized, admiring her eye,
when suddenly her expression changes. She blushes.
It’s as if she can hear his thoughts. Can she?

What has he fallen into? Is it a cult? His friend, Jack, an
Army General, thinks so. No, there must be something
else, but when he tries to investigate, the town seems
to become more defensive.
